On 13 October 2025, under the theme “Fund Resilience, Not Disasters”, a webinar titled “Financial incentives as a strategy for promoting disaster resilience” will take place at 12:00 PM. The event is organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) together with the European Scientific and Technical Advisory Group.
What is it about?
Despite increasing losses from natural hazards, investments in disaster risk reduction remain far below what is needed. Many national and local investment and construction plans still overlook climate and disaster risks. The webinar will explore how financial incentives, such as tax benefits, grants, or insurance-based instruments, can be used to strengthen preventive measures and reduce potential damages before disasters occur.
