Germany is facing an intense heatwave in the coming days, peaking on Wednesday, with temperatures of up to 39 degrees and tropical nights of over 20 degrees, according to the German weather service. In addition to the high heat load, the risk of forest fires is also increasing significantly, especially in southern and eastern Germany. [1]
Elderly people, young children and people with cardiovascular diseases are particularly at risk in hot weather, but even healthy people can suffer from life-threatening overheating through sport in the heat or high temperatures in the car. [2]
On our DKKV website you will find, among other things, our topic page on heat with tips on what to do in extreme temperatures and and further information on the effects of heat. It is advisable to drink plenty of water, avoid exertion, seek out cool places and use sunscreen.
Stay cool in the heat!
