These highlighted the need for innovative management and adaptation measures for water extremes. In addition to floods, there were repeated longer periods of drought in previous years. This makes the development of new approaches to the management of water-related natural hazards, which are being developed within the BMBF-funded programme on extreme water events, WaX for short, all the more important.

With the lunchtime talks ‘Water extremes in focus – new impulses from research’, we want to bring the research results of the WaX funding measure into politics and practice. In autumn 2024, we will offer you practical insights into the latest results of the research projects in five one-hour online sessions.

Last Tuesday, the successful kick-off event on flash flood forecasting and management took place with almost 170 participants. We would now like to invite you to our second Lunchtalk next Thursday, 17 October 2024, 12-13 hrs, on the topic of ‘Resilience of watercourses’.

The invitation is primarily aimed at ministries, authorities, municipal administrations, water suppliers and river basin associations.

Details and registration options can be found here.

We look forward to your participation!
