From May 30 to June 3, 2024, exceptional rainfall led to widespread flooding in southern Germany, particularly in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Many water levels exceeded historic highs and a state of emergency was declared in 18 Bavarian districts.
The DKKV is organizing a digital lunchtalk on this topic on 4 September 2024 from 13:00 to 14:00. Further information can be found in the event flyer.
Experience a detailed analysis of the extraordinary rainfall and flooding events that hit southern Germany in June 2024. Colleagues from the Forensic Disaster Analysis (FDA) Group of the DKKV member Center for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Technology (CEDIM) will present the results of their report. They will discuss the record rainfall and provide hydro-meteorological insights. What were the consequences of the floods and what measures were taken and need to be taken in the future?
CEDIM’s Forensic Disaster Analysis (FDA) Group investigates and analyzes disasters in order to better understand their causes, processes and effects. The focus is on the analysis of extreme events, their damage assessment, the associated data provision and the support of emergency measures.
This DKKV lunchtalk will take place as part of the exchange meetings of the flood distributor, which was launched in 2021 and is now used as a platform for all floods and flood events in Germany.
