The third day of the Global Summit of the Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR) began with the Local Leadership Academy, in which participants were able to deepen their knowledge on the topics of fundraising and sustainability, project management and policy and advocacy. In the following parallel sessions, the topics of localisation in practice, localisation of early warning systems and emergency preparedness for all, leaving no one behind in sustainable development and localisation of adaptation to climate change were discussed. This was followed by a round table on financing of local disaster risk reduction with the most important stakeholders on the question of how words can be translated into action to close the financing gap.
In the closing ceremony, the 25+ sessions ranged from exploring effective methods for sharing data and information between stakeholders to promote resilience, financing local disaster risk reduction to special sessions on capacity building sessions, were summarized. With the participation of more than 180 people from 60 countries, the summit highlighted both the progress and the gaps and challenges that still exist in disaster risk reduction worldwide.
