Sektor-X-Net

Ensuring a resilient supply chain is a key prerequisite for the functioning of our society. The impacts of climate change, extreme weather events, geopolitical crises, cyber-attacks and disruptions to critical infrastructure highlight just how closely interlinked the various supply sectors are. Failures in one area can have far-reaching consequences for other sectors and disrupt supplies to the population, the economy and public institutions.

Against this backdrop, the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) is funding research consortia – as part of the ‘Cross-sectoral Measures for Resilient Supply’ funding scheme – that are developing innovative solutions to strengthen the resilience of supply and infrastructure systems.

Together with the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (TH Köln), the DKKV is implementing the scientific support and knowledge transfer project SEKTOR-X-NET. The aim of the project is to connect the funded projects, promote exchange between the participating stakeholders and support the transfer of research findings into practice, administration and policy.

SEKTOR-X-NET creates opportunities for professional exchange, identifies common issues and highlights cross-cutting insights from the funding programme. Through dialogue formats, events, networking activities and the systematic synthesis of research findings, the project helps to harness synergies between the projects and facilitate cross-sectoral learning.

During the course of the project, digital resources will also be developed to support the long-term use and visibility of the research findings. These include, amongst other things, a knowledge portal, an innovation atlas and other knowledge transfer and communication formats.

SEKTOR-X-NET thus helps to make the findings of the funding programme accessible beyond individual collaborative projects and to strengthen the resilience of critical supply structures in Germany in the long term.
