SUMMARY:When home is lost: From prevention to durable solutions for disaste
 r displacement
DESCRIPTION:As disasters increasingly force people to leave their homes\, d
 isaster displacement is becoming a significant consequence of disaster ris
 k. The roundtable “When Home Is Lost: From Prevention to Durable Solutio
 ns for Disaster Displacement” brings together policymakers\, practitione
 rs\, researchers and other stakeholders to discuss how disaster risk reduc
 tion can help prevent displacement and support durable solutions when disp
 lacement cannot be avoided.\n\nThe event will explore practical approaches
  to reducing displacement risks\, including risk-informed development\, re
 silient housing and infrastructure\, social protection\, preparedness meas
 ures and anticipatory action. Participants will also discuss pathways towa
 rds durable solutions for people affected by disaster displacement\, inclu
 ding recovery\, reconstruction\, livelihood restoration\, planned relocati
 on and community-led recovery.\n\nBuilding on the outcomes of the Global P
 latform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2025\, the roundtable will connect pol
 icy discussions with experiences from recent disaster contexts. Particular
  attention will be given to persistent challenges such as financing gaps\,
  governance challenges and displacement in fragile and conflict-affected s
 ettings.\n\nRather than following a traditional panel format\, the event w
 ill combine short field perspectives\, rotating speakers and moderated dia
 logue. This approach aims to incorporate diverse voices\, encourage audien
 ce engagement and strengthen the connection between policy\, practice and 
 the realities faced by people affected by disaster displacement.\n\nThe ev
 ent is co-organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reducti
 on (UNDRR)\, the Sendai Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism (SEM)\, the Inter
 nal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC)\, the International Organization
  for Migration (IOM) and the Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD).\n\nF
