SUMMARY:UNDRR-Webinar-series: Building Resilient Urban Systems
DESCRIPTION:The first webinar\, led by the United Nations Development Progr
 amme (UNDP) in partnership with the United Nations Office of Disaster Risk
  Reduction (UNDRR)\, will focus on risk-informed urban development and pla
 nning processes in cities/municipalities. Almost two-thirds of the urban i
 nfrastructure that will exist in 2050 has yet to be built. Reducing existi
 ng and emerging multi-dimensional urban risks and investing in resilience 
 building through a systems-approach (i.e. looking at urban services\, capa
 cities\, resources\, institutions\, sectors and stakeholders as a whole) p
 resents a huge development opportunity.\n\nThis webinar series is linked t
 o the High-Level Meeting of the Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework in 
 May\, which will highlight DRR priorities for action including at the urba
 n and sub-national level.\n\nThe MCR2030 global partnership has mobilized 
 more than 1\,510 local governments\, representing over 470 million people 
 in 74 countries and territories. It is committed to strengthening disaster
  and climate resilience at the sub-national level. Twenty-one of these mun
 icipalities are recognized as Resilience Hubs – global leaders in disast
 er risk reduction. The initiative has also mobilized national governments\
 , international organizations\, private sector enterprises\, academic orga
 nizations\, and NGOs. MCR2030 is a ‘who’s who’ of partners with unma
 tched expertise and experience of supporting greater urban resilience.\n\n
