DESCRIPTION:The CNRS offers a PhD thesis on the subject "Supporting coastal
  climate adaption using a Past-to-Future approach: application to French P
 acific Islands (New Caledonia\, French Polynesia)" at the research laborat
 ory UMRi LIENSs at La Rochelle (France).\n\nThe PhD thesis will contribute
  to address the following research questions:\n\n 	How to think climate ad
 aptation to support effectively coastal territories in their efforts to\nr
 educe coastal erosion and flooding?\n 	Which scientific methodological pro
 tocol can be deployed to assist coastal territories in the\ndesign and imp
 lementation of effective and ambitious adaptation strategies?\n 	Which sci
 entific approach can help reducing maladaptation risk?\n 	How can the reco
 nstruction of the trajectories of exposure and vulnerability of coastal\nt
 erritories help designing effective and context-specific adaptation pathwa
 ys?\n 	How to articulate scientific (Western) and local and indigenous kno
 wledge to promote\neffective coastal adaptation strategies in post-colonia
 l island contexts?\n\nThis PhD thesis targets a post-master’s degree stu
 dent trained in social and human sciences\, preferably in geography or env
 ironmental sciences at large\, and having knowledge on coastal environment
 s and climate risks\, and a strong interest for interdisciplinary approach
