SUMMARY:Collaborative Center for Landslide Geohazards - Spring 2023 Virtual
  Workshops
DESCRIPTION:The National Science Foundation (NSF) funded a Track I - Cente
r Catalyst effort\, the Collaborative Center for Landslide Geohazards thro
ugh its Centers for Innovation and Community Engagement in Solid Earth Geo
hazards program. This national effort is being led by the Georgia Institut
e of Technology (GT)\, the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM)\
, and the University of Colorado Boulder (CUB). The University of Washingt
on and Pennsylvania State University have recently joined to develop the p
roposal for the Center. The Track I effort uses Puerto Rico as a living la
boratory. The Center seeks to integrate efforts in four regions: Appalachi
a\, Caribbean\, Pacific Ranges\, and Rockies – areas susceptible to land
slides.\n\nThe center has three foci: Scientific Research\; Education and
Workforce Dev/Training\; and Community Engagement. An in-person workshop t
o help define the center and its Strategic Science Plan was held January 2
023 in Puerto Rico. With these upcoming virtual workshops planned for May
25 and June 6\, the center invites the participation of all interested par
ties that want to influence this important initiative as they plan for a T
rack 2 – Center Operation proposal. Participants are welcome to attend o
ne or both workshops.\n\nThere will be two Virtual Workshops in Spring 202
